Renting BMW i8 in Germany

Want to experience electric Sportscar ? You can rent BMW i8 from Sixt in Germany. Weekend price (friday 12 – monday 09) with 750 km starts 688 eur (£ 532). Loss damager waiver adds cost between 25 eur (2500 eur excess) 53 eur (0 eur excess) per day. Loss damage waiver you should always budget in rental costs unless you are covered with credit card car rental insurance or your personal car insurance. Additional kilometers costs 1,15 eur (£ 0,88). 4 day weekend (thursday 12 – monday 09) costs 842 eur. with 1000 km . One week is 1078 eur and includes 1750 kilometers. BMW i8 can also be rented in USA from Sixt Miami branch. If you are looking for rent in Munich you can also rent from BMW Welt – BMW On Demand Service. BMW On Demand is targeted for short terms rentals from 1 hour to maximum of 5 days. Our opinion is that best value is daytime rental from 9:00 morning till 17:00 in the evening whre you will only be charged for 3 hours rental time. So you can rent BMW i8 from BMW On Demand for 8 hours for 300 eur and it includes 450 kilometers and included with liability insurance as well as fully comprehensive an third party, fire and theft insurance with an excess of 1.000 Euros.

Renting Jaguar F-type Convertible in Germany

Europcar, Sixt and Hertz have Jaguar F-type in their summer 2014 fleet.

Europar and Hertz have only Convertible model in their fleet but Sixt also has Coupe model.

Example prices for weekend rental (Friday 12:00 to Monday 09:00).

Europcar 329 eur (including 750 kilometers) 0.44 eur/km
Sixt 525 eur (including 1000 kilometers) 0.525 eur/km
Hertz 650 eur (including 750 kilometers) 0.87 eur/km

All of them have different CDW/LDW coverage which can make quite a difference in the total cost. All these prices are from Non-Airport locations. Airport locations charge approx 20% surcharge.
Europcar F-type is based on their website base model F-type with 340hp. Sixt and Hertz you have a chance of getting S-model with 380hp or even some V8 (495hp) models have found their way to the fleet.

Hertz had major availability issues with already confirmed rentals at least beginning of July. I hope that they have been able to clear those – at least their have been steadily increasing their prices for F-type.

If you are interested in F-type Coupe. Sixt has Coupes but with higher price than Cabriolet. 700 eur for weekend (including 1000 kilometers).

Availability of these cars is limited and only handful of rental stations carry these on their fleet. Most airport stations (with surcharge) and limited number of stations in biggest cities in Germany.

Hertz also has F-type available in Italy and France.

Sixt Germany summer 2014 Premium / Luxury fleet

This year Sixt Germany does not seems to have any Aston Martin’s in their fleet unlike last year. However there is selection of several M-series models and also Jaguar F-type both Cabrio and Coupe models.

BMW M3 (F80) / M4 (F82) fleet Sixt Germany summer 2014

Sixt has pretty much revealed their Summer 2014 “Luxury” fleet. See separate post.

I have been looking forward to see new M3 (F80) and M4 (F82) in their summer 2014 fleet. And the good news is that Sixt will be adding both to their 2014 fleet. Bad news is that cars won’t be available until mid August beginning of September.

I’m not aware that any car rental agency in Germany (or elsewhere) has new BMW M3 / M4 in their fleet yet. There is still hope that new M3 / M4 will make to BMW On Demand – BMW Welt Munich fleet for this summer.

UPDATE (6.5.2014 13:00 CET): According BMW On Demand M3 / M4 will join to their fleet July/August (2014) timeframe.

Sixt Germany added M5 (F10) to their 2012 fleet

Prices start 249 eur per day including 150 km per day. 249 eur day rate requires 10 day rental. For shorter rentals daily rates are higher. Extra km are 0.99 euros. (99 cents).

daily rate € 273,32 and total 819.97 eur.

includes:
600 kilometers (200km / Dai; € 0,99 / extra kilometers), Liability insurance, Navigation system, Collision Damage Waiver with theft protection (deductible: € 1500,00). Deductible can be lowered to 0 euros with addtional fee of 21.49 euros per day.

Weekend 3 day rental is “best” deal since it gives additional 150 kilometers over weekday 3 day rental and in general weekday daily rate is higher. Renting from Airport Sixt location will add 20% location surcharge to rental fees.

Sixt Germany has BMW M3 in their summer fleet (again)

This Ultimate Driving Machine has 420 hp and goes 0-100 km/h less than 5 seconds. Sixt fleet of M3’s have 7-speed Dual clutch transmission DCT. Gear changes are fast and you can use paddles for up/downshifts. And when down shifting you can hear throttle blips.

Sixt Germany has BMW M3 again this year in their summer fleet. M3 is available in selected stations in both Cabriolet and Coupe versions.

Prices start from 95 eur per day (99 for cabrio) for rentals at least 10 days. Price includes 250km per day. Daily prices for shorter rentals are higher.

Sample prices:

4 days and 9 days rental are almost same price as 5 or 10 days. And in case of M3 Cabriolet you can get 5 or 6 days rental cheaper and more included kilometers for the same price (well 10 euros more) than 4 days rental. Pricing can change depending on which day your rental starts but usually weekend and 3, 7 and 10 days rental gives the relative best per day prices.

Additional kilometers 0.69 eur.
Airport locations are generally approx 20% more expensive.
